Perfect at Home: Alouettes Go 9-0 at Molson Stadium as Davis Alexander Tops 5,000 Yards

Fortress Molson is officially a thing. With Monday’s 44-24 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Montreal Alouettes wrapped up their 2026 home schedule with a perfect 9-0-0 record at Percival Molson Stadium. Only two other teams in franchise history have gone unbeaten at home over a full season: the 1954 and 2009 Alouettes. Pas pire du tout.

A statement win with nothing on the line

What made Monday’s result stand out is the context. Montreal had already clinched first place in the East Division the week before, so in the standings there was little to play for. The Riders, meanwhile, were fighting for a playoff spot. It did not matter. As the Alouettes’ own game recap puts it, Montreal came out after a long nine-day break and controlled the afternoon anyway.

Head coach Jason Maas called the 9-0 home run “special,” noting that in more than two decades in the league, he had never finished a season unbeaten at home. It was also the first meeting between the two clubs since last year’s Grey Cup, which added a little extra edge.

Davis Alexander keeps rewriting the record book

Quarterback Davis Alexander was the engine again: 26-for-33, 403 passing yards and five touchdowns, plus 40 rushing yards. His touchdown passes included strikes to Charleston Rambo and Tyler Snead. Along the way, Alexander became the first Alouettes quarterback since Anthony Calvillo in 2012 to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a season, and he was named among the CFL’s top performers of the week.

Just as impressive is how he gets there. Alexander extends plays, stays calm under pressure and credits an offensive line that keeps blocking long after the play breaks down. That combination will matter a lot in November.

Cantin-Arku honoured off the field

There was more good news on Thursday: linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku was named the CFL’s 2026 winner of the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, which recognizes the Canadian player who best exemplifies the values of Canada’s veterans. The Quebecer, who founded the GCA Academy in Quebec City in 2025 to mentor young players, becomes the fifth Alouette to win it, joining Shea Emery, Jeff Perrett, Luc Brodeur-Jourdain and Martin Bédard.

What’s next for the Als

  • Saturday, October 17, 3 p.m. ET: a quick rematch with the Roughriders, this time in Regina.
  • October 23: Alouettes vs. Toronto Argonauts to close out the regular season.
  • Saturday, November 7, 3 p.m. ET: the Eastern Final in Montreal, per the CFL’s playoff schedule. As first-place finishers, the Als get the bye and host.
  • November 15: the 113th Grey Cup.

With the division locked up, expect Maas to manage workloads over the final two weeks while trying to keep the edge that produced a perfect home season. If you want to relive the highlights, the CFL put together a 9-0 home record recap.
