The Montreal Alouettes have already done the hard part: first place in the East and a first-round playoff bye. Now there’s one regular-season game left, Friday night in Toronto against the Argonauts, before the real fun begins, according to the Alouettes.
The Road Ahead
- Friday, Oct. 23: Regular-season finale at the Toronto Argonauts.
- Playoffs, opening weekend: Bye for the Als.
- Saturday, Nov. 7: The Alouettes host the Eastern Final at Percival Molson Stadium.
A Season to Remember (as of October 22)
Montreal went a perfect 9-0 at home this season, joining only the 1954 and 2009 teams to go unbeaten at Molson Stadium. Quarterback Davis Alexander led the CFL in passing yards and touchdown passes as of mid-October and became the first Als QB since Anthony Calvillo in 2012 to top 5,000 passing yards in a season (Alouettes). We covered the home finale in Perfect at Home.
Last Saturday in Regina, the Als rested many starters, including Alexander, and lost 16-12, but rookie Shomari Lawrence ran for 109 yards and the defence was stingy all game. Read our weekend recap.
Cantin-Arku Honoured
Linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku has won the CFL’s 2026 Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, given to the Canadian player who best exemplifies the values of Canada’s veterans: strength, perseverance, courage, camaraderie and community involvement (Alouettes). A key contributor on defence and special teams since 2024, he founded the GCA Academy in Quebec City in 2025, offering football training and mentorship to more than 250 young people. He is the fifth Alouette to win the award, after Shea Emery, Jeff Perrett, Luc Brodeur-Jourdain and Martin Bédard.
