The 2024 CPKC Holiday Train Is Coming Soon To Montreal

The 2024 CPKC Holiday Train will be coming to two locations in Montreal on November 22, 2024!  If you’ve never witnessed the magic that rides into town as it passes through, don’t miss your chance to do so this year.  All the information you will need to prepare for the event is found below.

What Is The CPKC Holiday Train?

From November 21st to December 20th, the 2024 CPKC Holiday Train will be going across Canada and the U.S. Their yearly mission is to raise money and food for those in need while also creating awareness in support of food banks.

At each stop the train makes, the CPKC encourages all attendees to donate funds or a healthy food donation to ease hunger needs in the community year-round.

According to their official website, the CPKC Holiday train has collected an estimated 5.3 million pounds of food. It has also raised more than $24.3 million for community food banks across Canada and the United States.  What makes it even more exciting this year?  They’ll be visiting Saint John, N.B. for the first time!

How Does It Work?

Once the train comes to a stop, the door of the stage car lowers.  As the artists perform their first song, representatives from the local food bank and other officials will give a short presentation on stage.

The artists will then continue with the show with a mixture of originals and popular pieces. Of course, you can’t forget about the holiday classics! There will be something for everyone to sing along with to celebrate the season. Once the final song has been played, the doors will close and the train will continue to its next destination.

Schedule and Locations

7 PM – 7:30 PM

CPKC’s first Montreal location is the Montreal West EXO Commuter Station from 7 PM to 7:30 PM.

The train station is accessible by car from Harley Avenue, located near Sherbrooke Street West and Highway 20. STM buses and the Saint-Jérôme and Vaudreuil-Hudson commuter rail lines also provide access.

8:30 PM – 9 PM

The second location will be at the Beaconsfield EXO Commuter Station from 8:30 PM to 9 PM

Located between Elm Avenue and Autoroute 20, the station is accessible by car via Saint-Charles Boulevard. It is also serviced by STM buses.

You can download a PDF schedule for Canadian stops here for a full schedule with an artist lineup.  They also have a PDF schedule available for US stops, available for download at this link. To plan your trip to one of the locations, use the official STM website here for further information and schedules.

Performances

As the holiday train makes its way across the countries, they offer free performances by professional musicians who play on the train’s stage.  Throughout its travels, this will include 167 live music shows in 7 provinces and 13 states.

This year, at both the Montreal and Beaconsfield locations, they will feature a performance by American Authors, best known for the hit “Best Day of My Life”.

KT Tunstall will also be performing!  Her songs Suddenly I See and Black Horse and the Cherry Tree have been popular since they were released in 2004.  You won’t want to pass up the opportunity to see them perform live!

Along the train’s route, other performances by James Barker Band, Clerel, Tyler Shaw, Shawnee Kish, Magic!, Sofia Camara, Tiera Kennedy, Seaforth, Alana Springsteen, and The Lone Bellow will be available depending on the location.
