Montreal may be famous for bagels, smoked meat and poutine, but quietly, over the last decade, this city has become one of the best pizza towns in Canada. Wood-fired Neapolitan pies in Little Italy, foldable New York slices, Roman-style squares sold by weight: whatever your pizza religion, Montreal has a temple for it.
We combed through this year’s local rankings, from the Cult MTL readers’ poll to Tastet’s list and the never-ending debates on Reddit, to bring you 10 spots that keep coming up again and again. In no particular order:
1. Pizza Bouquet (Petite-Patrie)
45 Beaubien E. Topping the 2026 Cult MTL readers’ poll, Pizza Bouquet has become a go-to for Montrealers who want a serious slice without the fuss. Grab one (or three) and walk it off along Beaubien.
2. Bottega (Little Italy)
A Little Italy institution on Saint-Zotique and a name that shows up on nearly every best-of list. Bottega is all about classic Neapolitan pizza from a wood-fired oven: blistered crust, simple toppings, done right. Several local rankings call it the best overall pizza in the city.
3. Pizzeria Gema (Little Italy)
Just around the corner, Gema brings a relaxed, neighbourhood vibe and beautifully executed pies. Ideal for a long dinner with friends.
4. Moccione Pizza (Villeray)
380 Villeray St. The pizza-focused little sibling of the acclaimed Moccione restaurant on Saint-Denis. If you know Moccione’s reputation for Italian cooking, you already know why this one is worth the trip.
5. Pizzeria Elena (Saint-Henri)
On Notre-Dame West, Elena has a loyal following for its sourdough-based crust and its imported Italian tomato sauce. It’s regularly cited by local pizza obsessives as one of the best in the city, and the room is as much fun as the food.
6. Welldun Pizza (Verdun)
4434 Wellington St. Verdun’s star pizzeria (the name says it all) packs in a wide variety of pies and has earned a spot on the 2026 Cult MTL list. A perfect excuse to explore Promenade Wellington.
7. Pizza Toni (various locations)
Number two in this year’s Cult MTL poll, Pizza Toni has multiple locations, which makes it one of the easiest great pizzas to get your hands on, wherever you are on the island.
8. Pizzeria No. 900 (various locations)
The Quebec chain that made fast, high-heat Neapolitan pizza an everyday thing. Consistent, quick and reliable: the safe bet when you’re feeding a group.
9. Fugazzi Pizza (various locations)
Another fan favourite from this year’s readers’ poll, with several spots around town. Ask any Fugazzi regular and you’ll get a passionate recommendation for their favourite pie.
10. Segreta Pizza al Taglio (Beaumont Ave.)
413 Beaumont Ave. For something different, Segreta serves Roman-style pizza al taglio: rectangular slices cut to order. It doubles as an Italian grocery, so you can stock up on imported goodies on your way out.
Honourable Mentions
Montreal’s pizza scene runs deep, and readers always have opinions. Spots like Gigi Pizza have passionate fans, and Moccione’s long-fermented dough earns plenty of praise from local critics. Got a favourite we missed? Tell us in the comments; we’re always hungry for the next stop.
Bon appétit, Montréal! 🍕
